Online Marketing Course: How To Exchange Links With Other Websites
Today’s Online Marketing Course Is: How To Exchange Links With Other Websites
Exchanging links with other website owners is a terrific way to increase traffic to your website. Most successful websites spend a certain amount of time every week soliciting exchanges with other websites. This is how to do it.
First look for websites that compliment your site, but don’t compete with it. Do a keyword search in Google and make a list of the websites that fit your criteria. Collect the emails and if possible the name of the owner. If it is not on the website, go to DomainPro.com, click on Whois, put the domain name in, and it will return the owner’s information. A whois search will also tell you how long the website has been in business based on the age of domain name. Of course, they could have owned the domain name and not used it, but more often than not it’s a good estimate of the age of the business.
Make sure that you have your Google toolbar with the Page Rank feature active when you research websites. Also, download the Alexa toolbar to look at their traffic ranking. The smaller the number on the Alexa tool, the more popular the website is. Look for websites that have at least a Google Page Rank 2 and above, and an Alexa ranking of 2 million and less.
Now it’s time to contact the website owner. In the subject line put: Request For Link Exchange. In the email be sure to address it to the owner. Tell them what you liked about their website and why you think a link exchange would be good for both of you. Ask them to reply to your email if they are interested. Once a link exchange has been agreed to, send them your link with a little blurb about your website. They will do the same.
You will want to dedicate a page on your site for link exchanges. In your navigation, name it something like: Useful Websites. Once you have received the link exchange information be sure to post it within 24 hours. In return check the other site to be sure they have listed your information.
If you want to automate the process, there are websites online that offer programs that make this process much easier. Just do a search in Google For “link exchange”. Sitepoint.com has a section where you can post your link exchange information as well. There are also directories where you an search for link exchange partners.
